CBS Creates New Division, Promotes Schweitzer

In further restructuring of Viacom’s operations, CBS has created a new division, the CBS Marketing Group, and promoted longtime CBS marketing chief George Schweitzer to its president. Mr. Schweitzer will continue to be responsible for the marketing, advertising and media for CBS and UPN. Under the new group, his tasks will now extend to collaborating on marketing at other Viacom divisions: King World Productions, Paramount Television, Infinity Broadcasting and Viacom Outdoor. He has been executive VP of marketing and communications for CBS since 1994.

Mr. Schweitzer’s chief lieutenants, Ron Scalera and Anne O’Grady, have been promoted to executive VPs of the new CBS Marketing Group. Mr. Scalera has been senior VP of marketing in charge of all creative on-air promos at the network. He continues with those responsibilities, and coordinating with other Viacom divisions.

Ms. O’Grady has also been senior VP of marketing. She continues to be in charge of creating marketing programs with companies, producing special marketing events, supervising product placement and overseeing licensing and merchandising businesses.

Previously, Viacom realigned programming and public relations executives at its television divisions.
