MTV will produce five “MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups” specials to air in 2005, the network announced Wednesday. The music performance series places two artists on the same stage with the challenge of “mashing” their songs together. The debut special-“MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups”-premiered Nov. 10 with “Linkin Park & Jay-Z.” A CD and a DVD of the special followed, hitting stores Nov. 30.

“The success of the Jay-Z/Linkin Park mash-ups album is a testament to our multiplatform approach,” said Brian Graden, president of entertainment, MTV Networks Music Group. “The live concert, the MTV special, The Leak on MTV.com and the CD/DVD release gave fans ultimate access to this amazing collaboration, and we look forward to teaming up more dynamic music artists for future episodes.”
