ABC Family has ordered eight episodes of an original one-hour scripted series called “Beautiful People” (working title).

The Sony Pictures Television series follows a single-parent family moving from a small town to New York.

The series is slated for a two-hour premiere this summer and marks one of the first original drama orders for the channel.
