The Tennis Channel announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement to purchase the ATP tennis tournament based in Scottsdale, Ariz., which will be renamed the Tennis Channel Open. Tennis Channel is buying the event from Scottsdale Tournament Productions, whose managing partner is IMG, the sports marketing and management agency.

Terms were not disclosed. The Tennis Channel has had programming rights to the tournament since 2002, and this year will telecast more than 40 hours of play. IMG will manage and operate this year’s event, which will take place Feb. 21-27. Starting next year, the network will assume all managerial and operational responsibilities for the tournament.
