Michael Clemente has been named executive producer of the ABC Digital News unit.

David Westin, president of ABC News, made the announcement Wednesday. In his expanded role, Mr. Clemente will oversee editorial content and production of ABCNews.com, ABC News Now, ABC News on Demand, and all content delivered to the ABC News broadband and mobile platforms.

“Michael has been a driving force behind the launch of ABC News Now. With more than 25 years of news production and editorial experience, he is the right person to oversee our digital platforms,” Mr. Westin said.

Mr. Clemente has been executive producer of ABC News Now, the network’s 17-month-old broadband subscription platform. His ABC career began on the radio side in the late ’70s and he has worked on all the key programs at ABC News, which he left in 1997 to go to CNN. Mr. Clemente returned to ABC News the following year.
