MTV Networks Chief Digital Officer Jason Hirschhorn is leaving the company after six years, a spokesperson confirmed Tuesday. No replacement will be immediately named.

Executive VP of Digital Media Nick Lehman will take over Mr. Hirschhorn’s duties in the interim, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Judy McGrath.

“Jason is a visionary who has been a driving force during the transformation of MTV Networks from a linear cable programming company to a digital, multiplatform powerhouse,” Ms. McGrath said in a statement. “He has helped us establish a strong leadership position in the digital media revolution — from the Web to broadband video to wireless entertainment.”

Mr. Hirschhorn joined the now-defunct MTV Interactive in 2000 when MTVN acquired his company, Mischief New Media. The MTV spokesperson said Mr. Hirschhorn is leaving the company to return to his entrepreniual roots.
