NBC, YouTube in Talks for Video Clips

In the latest “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” example, NBC is now in talks with YouTube, one of the online video sites it asked in April to remove the “Lazy Sunday” clip from “Saturday Night Live.”

NBC is working on a deal with the video-sharing site in which the network would buy ads on YouTube and YouTube would post clips of NBC shows. If NBC inks a deal, it would follow in the footsteps of E!, which partnered with YouTube in March in one of the first such deals between a network and a video-sharing site.

Industry experts have predicted that traditional broadcast and cable networks must make nice with the most popular video-sharing sites to leverage their promotional power.
