AOL Video Adds Shows, Films to Menu

AOL Video is adding TV shows and movies from 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment as part of its effort to lure users.

Some of the features, such as classic TV shows “Charlie’s Angels” and “Starsky & Hutch,” will be free and accompanied by commercials, AOL Video said Thursday. Other offerings, such as episodes of Fox’s “24” and “Prison Break,” will be available for download for a fee.

AOL is beefing up its offerings as competition grows more fierce in the online video distribution business. Amazon is poised to enter the market this month, and iTunes has been shoring up its content slate. Google is also vying for users and revenue, and struck a deal this month to distribute MTV Networks videos across the Internet.
