Sunday night’s premiere of “The Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner” became the most-watched original program of the year for the network.

According the Nielsen Media Research data cited by the network, the two-hour special was seen by 3.6 million viewers (2.1 million ages 18 to 49), and also delivered record traffic for Comedy Central’s MotherLoad broadband channel.

The event enjoyed pre-show publicity emanating from comedian Andy Dick’s licking of several celebrities’ faces in an apparent meltdown during the proceedings.
