BBC World News has appointed Kevin Bishop to the position of BBC News senior producer in New York. Mr. Bishop replaces Jeremy Hillman, who before returning to London to take up the post of editor at BBC World News, brought together the BBC’s news, business and U.N. operations in New York.

For the last two years, Mr. Bishop edited BBC’s science and environment coverage, working with the BBC’s science and environment correspondent David Shukman. Prior to that, he was the bureau chief in Moscow and earlier this summer helped guide the BBC’s global coverage of the World Cup soccer tournament in Germany.

The BBC’s network of American news bureaus employs around 200 people and has offices in Washington, D.C., New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo and Havana. The BBC’s American operations are the BBC’s biggest outside the United Kingdom.
