The producers behind “Live 8,” the most-watched live Internet broadcast, jumped ship from AOL to MSN.

Control Room, the company formerly known as Network Live that produced “Live 8,” inked a multiyear agreement to provide live concerts to run online on MSN. The deal makes MSN the exclusive online home for live and on-demand streaming for Control Room’s music programming, starting with John Legend live from the Royal Albert Hall in London on Oct. 2.

Under the deal, Microsoft also retains the rights to stream Control Room shows to other platforms such as Xbox Live and MSN Messenger. MSN said it will create ad opportunities around the content such as display, test and streaming video ads.

Control Room distributed more than 59 shows in the past year. The company said the management team has remained the same since “Live 8,” which was streamed more than 90 million times during the summer of 2005.
