NBC won the first night of the 2006-07 season in adults 18 to 49 with a two-hour season premiere of its game show “Deal or No Deal” and the critically acclaimed drama “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”

Despite the win for NBC, the top-rated show of the night in adults 18 to 49 was the season premiere of CBS’s 10 p.m. (ET) drama “CSI: Miami.” The franchise drama scored a 5.7 preliminary national rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live viewing plus same-day viewing via digital video recorders, according to Nielsen Media Research. That was down 15 percent from “CSI: Miami’s” premiere in the time period last season.

The No. 2 show for the night was “CSI: Miami’s” time period competitor “Studio 60,” a behind-the-scenes look at a late-night comedy sketch show written by “The West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin. “Studio 60” scored a 5.0 in adults 18 to 49, up 11 percent from the year-ago season premiere of former time-slot holder “Medium” (4.5). The drama declined from a 5.4 its first half-hour to a 4.6 for its second half-hour. ABC was third in the time period with a special episode of reality series “Supernanny” (3.1).

NBC’s two-hour “Deal” scored a 4.9 in adults 18 to 49, up 17 percent from the year-ago time period premieres of “Surface” and “Las Vegas” (4.2 average). It was up 7 percent from its own 8 p.m. time period premiere in February 2006 (4.6).

On CBS, the 8 p.m. series debut of ensemble comedy “The Class” scored a 3.7 in adults 18 to 49, up 3 percent from the year-ago time-period premiere of “King of Queens” (3.6). At 8:30 p.m., the season premiere of “How I Met Your Mother” scored a 3.8, down 3 percent from its own year-ago debut.

CBS was third in the 8 p.m. hour, behind NBC’s “Deal” and an original episode of Fox drama “Prison Break” (3.9). On ABC, the 8 p.m. season debut of reality series “Wife Swap” scored a 2.9, up 12 percent from its year-ago season premiere.

The season premiere of “Two and a Half Men” at 9 p.m. scored a 5.0, down 2 percent from its own year-ago premiere. At 9:30 p.m., Emmy winner “The New Adventures of Old Christine” scored a 4.2, down 2 percent from the year-ago time-period premiere of “Out of Practice” and down 13 percent from its own March 2006 series debut. ABC was third in the 9 p.m. hour with a special episode of “Wife Swap” (3.9), followed by Fox’s thriller mystery drama “Vanished” (2.7).

NBC was tops for the night with a 4.9, followed by CBS with a 4.7 and ABC and Fox, which tied with a 3.3.
