Mandel to Head VNU’s NielsenConnect

Outspoken ad buyer Jon Mandel has joined VNU as CEO of a new unit called NielsenConnect, the company said Tuesday.

NielsenConnect is designed to bring different VNU resources together under the Nielsen banner for clients. It will draw information from dozens of VNU companies that collect, analyze and report on consumer patterns and usage around the world.

“NielsenConnect is about looking forward, and anticipating what’s coming next,” Mr. Mandel said in a statement. “It’s about connecting consumer information in ways that have never been attempted so our clients can spot trends and move more quickly to maximize their relationships with their customers.

Most recently, Mr. Mandel was chief of strategic solutions at GroupM. Before that he was chairman of GroupM’s MediaCom.
