The number of TV homes in this country is expected to hit 163.7 million by the year 2050, a 47 percent increase from the current 111.4 million.

That figure is among the projections in the annual report, “Projected Estimates of TV Households and Persons 2008 to 2050,” released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research.

The report also predicts that by 2050, the number of African-American TV homes will grow 66 percent, with increases in Hispanic TV homes and Asian TV homes of 167 percent and 166 percent, respectively.
