Ford Drives ‘Makeover’ Promo Tie-In

Ford plans to give away 50 new cars as part of a tie-in with ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

A family from Mississippi will receive the first car in the “Edge Across America” promotion on April 8 at 8 p.m. The Joneses also will get an “Extreme Garage Makeover.”

Ford and ABC will be soliciting inspirational stories from viewers through May 20 at ABC.com and at edgeacrossamerica.com. One deserving family from each state will be awarded a new car. A grand prize winner also will receive an “Extreme Garage Makeover” from Ford.

Paige Hemmis and Eduardo Xol of “Extreme Makeover” will be featured in ads promoting the giveaway. The ads show a series of Ford Edges driving through a garage as Ms. Hemmis and Mr. Xol check off the locations to which the cars are headed.

“This partnership with Ford extends the wish-fulfillment aspect of ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ to an even greater level,” Michael Benson, ABC Entertainment executive VP of marketing, said in a statement Tuesday. “Awarding 50 deserving viewers with a new Edge demonstrates the quality and commitment of Ford and captures the spirit of the show.”
