Rainbow Media Holdings named David Evans as senior VP of Rainbow Broadband, a business group newly created as part of the company’s efforts to maximize new technology and content distribution platforms.

Mr. Evans previously was general manager of Newyorkmetro.com, a Web site started by Rainbow Media and Primedia.

His new assignment is to build an infrastructure for Rainbow that will extend its brands on the Internet, wireless devices and other entertainment and electronic platforms.

“Consumer viewing habits are undergoing rapid changes with the dramatic expansion of new distribution platforms for content,” Josh Sapan, president and CEO of Rainbow Media, said in a statement Tuesday.

Mr. Sapan said Rainbow was adding the “seasoned executive” and investing resources “to further accelerate our efforts and more efficiently and effectively build our network brands and pursue distribution of our content across platforms.”
