‘Roots’ Draws Viewers to TV One

TV One scored its highest ratings ever with the first episode of the historic miniseries “Roots” Sunday night.

The 30th-anniversary telecast of “Roots” drew a 1.1 Nielsen Media Research rating with more than 586,000 viewers tuning in.

In African American households, “Roots” drew a 6.2 rating during the first episode.

“We are delighted that this landmark miniseries not only has set ratings records for TV One, but that a new generation of viewers is tuning in to watch,” said TV One President and CEO Johnathan Rodgers.
