DISCOP, the Eastern and Central Europe content market owned by the National Association of Television Program Executives, will celebrate 15 years of growth in the region’s television business with a gala opening-night dinner. The event will take place June 20 in Budapest on the first night of DISCOP 07.
Michael Garin, CEO of Central European Media Enterprises, will be featured as a special guest in a one-on-one conversation with NATPE President-CEO Rick Feldman. “I’m delighted at the opportunity to engage in a forward-looking conversation with Michael Garin, one of most respected and accomplished executives in our business,” said Mr. Feldman.
DISCOP 2007 takes place at the Sofitel Atrium Hotel in Budapest and has sold out its exhibition space. Market executives continue to accept non-exhibition and buyer registrations; they anticipate some 900 buyers from throughout Central and Eastern Europe to make their way to the summer’s rapidly growing programming market.
“The international TV content business in Central and Eastern Europe has grown from a few hundred thousand dollars during the Soviet days to several hundred millions of dollars in the 15 years since the first DISCOP,” said Patrick Jucard, general manager of DISCOP. “It’s a pleasure to have Michael Garin as our guest of honor in light of DISCOP’s longstanding relationship with CME’s television stations.”
