Exclusive Podcast: ’24’ Producer Has No Regrets

May 15, 2007  •  Post A Comment

The pressure surrounding “24” this season has been high with criticism from both the press and fans, but in this week’s exclusive Backlot Talk, showrunner Howard Gordon said he has no regrets.
“I’ve always been my own worst critic and my own barometer in terms of what works and what doesn’t work,” he said. “With regard to the press, it seems like it became a sport for its own sake … I’m extremely proud of this year, and while I recognize some of its weaknesses and some of its limitations, I’m also really acquainted with its strengths and what’s good about it.”
Mr. Gordon did recognize that the show is “definitely in need of some reinvention,” and he said that process will come not in response to the fans and critics, but to their own interests to “keep it fresh and new.” He wouldn’t disclose ideas for next season, but he did say this transformation will require something “radical.”
