CMT is launching reality show “Born Country,” looking at the lives of people caught up in the country culture.
Each show tells three parallel stories of people pursuing similar interests. The premiere episode, appearing June 1 at 8 p.m. ET, features three karaoke moms. The women rehearse, compete and perform to get the applause of an audience and the support of their families.
Another episode, titled “I’m a Secret Country Dancer,” shows three people engaged in the country line-dance scene. “Addicted to ‘Dukes of Hazzard’” follows devotees of the old CBS series as they head to their big annual event, the CMT DukesFest.
Meanwhile, “Ladies Love Country Boys” highlights cowboy heartbreakers who use what the network calls “their good looks and Southern charm” to meet women, as well as a country girl who documents her search to snag a country boy of her own.
“Born Country” is executive produced by Lauren Lazin, who also made “MTV True Life.” Bob Kusbit and Lewis Bogach are the executive producers for CMT.
