BBC Global News has selected online video technology provider thePlatform to help deliver its news videos to YouTube, the companies announced today. The news provider will use Comcast-owned thePlatform’s system to distribute short-form videos on the video-sharing site via a deal struck by the BBC and YouTube earlier this year.
Under the deal, BBC Global News will publish up to 30 news clips per day on the dedicated channel “BBC World News” at http://youtube.com/bbcworldnews.
thePlatform has been gaining clients in the battle to win Web video deals among technology providers. It’s also slated to be one of the technology providers to power the NBC Universal-News Corp. joint venture launching later this summer.
