Comcast Enters Second Life

Jun 14, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Comcast has gone virtual.
The nation’s largest cable operator has opened “Comcastic Island,” a new destination within Second Life, the online virtual world.
“Comcastic Island” is a theme park with attractions designed to highlight the speed of Comcast’s Internet access services. It includes an auto race track, a jet ski track and a jet pack course.
Second Life residents also can visit the Comcastic Island Entertainment Center, which will host a range of concert performances by Second Life and real-world artists.
New attractions that highlight Comcast’s Digital Cable and Digital Voice services are in development and will open on the island in the future.
“With millions of users across the globe, virtual worlds like Second Life are quickly becoming hot gathering spots for young, tech-savvy consumers, and Comcastic Island is a great way for us to connect with that audience in an inventive and interactive way,” said Page Murray, senior VP, marketing communication and support, for Comcast.
