‘Ellen,’ ‘Sesame Street,’ Top Daytime Emmys

“As the World Turns,” “Sesame Street” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” were the big winners at the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Bob Barker picked up two last Emmys – his 18th and 19th — for his work as host and executive producer of the record-setting CBS Daytime show, “The Price Is Right,” and three rousing standing ovations for his just-concluded 35-year run on “Price” and 50 years in television.
Ms. DeGeneres claimed she had thought “The View” would win an Emmy for its season of living dangerously with Rosie O’Donnell as a combative co-host and said the intended to take a page from “The View.”
“I know this might not be popular and I don’t care because that’s what I’m doing,” she said. “I just want to say it: I think Bob Barker is a quitter.”
In a live broadcast from Hollywood on CBS Friday night and a non-televised creative arts gala Thursday night, CBS’s “ATWT” and “Sesame Street” received seven Emmys apiece, while the syndicated “Ellen” won six, including one for outstanding talk show and talk show host. “The View” picked up awards for hair and makeup Thursday night and nothing Friday.
“ATWT’s” Emmys included one for its team of directors.
Two of the Emmys earned by “Sesame Street” created a tie in the category of outstanding performer in a children’s series. Kevin Clash — who gives life to Elmo — and Carroll Spinney — who puts the bite in Oscar the Grouch and last year received the Lifetime Achievement Award — each added another statuette to their impressive collections.

  1. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
