NBC once again dominated the Television Critics Association’s annual award nominations for outstanding programming and performances.
Freshman series “30 Rock,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Heroes” garnered 12 nominations among them. Returning comedy “The Office” also secured a nod.
HBO had the second-most nominations in the survey, with veteran series “The Sopranos” and “The Wire” mentioned along with Spike Lee’s Hurricane Katrina documentary “When the Levees Broke.”
Other new shows receiving recognition include ABC’s “Ugly Betty” and Showtime’s “Dexter.”
Nominees for the TCA Heritage Award, which recognizes a show that had long-term cultural impact, include CBS’ “M*A*S*H” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” PBS’ “Sesame Street,” ABC’s “Roots” and HBO’s “The Sopranos.”
