Imperioli to Star in ABC’s Albom Movie

Hot off the demise of “The Sopranos,” Michael Imperioli will star in ABC’s adaptation of author Mitch Albom’s bestseller “For One More Day.”
Ellen Burstyn also will star in the two-hour film, produced under Harpo Films’ “Oprah Winfrey Presents” banner for the network.
Mr. Imperioli, who played a mobster on HBO’s hit “The Sopranos,” will play an alcoholic former baseball player who tries to commit suicide, but is granted an extra day of life. Ms. Burstyn will play his deceased mother.
The ABC Television/Harpo production will air by the end of the year, with Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte listed as executive producers.
Although broadcast made-for-TV movies are increasingly rare, the appeal of Mr. Albom’s books and the Winfrey label can make for a powerful combination. When Mr. Albom’s “Tuesdays With Morrie” aired on ABC in 1999, it yielded four Emmy wins and was the top-rated show of the week.
Principal photography begins today in Connecticut and New York.

  1. I think with those two on any project will be a smash. with Mitch from the Detriit area & the boycott of NBC in Detroit just gives every one more reason to watch ABC way to go.
