More Speed for TLC

TLC is planning to supercharge its Thursday night with a new six-part series called “Street Customs.”
The series will fit in with the network’s Turbo lineup of shows, popular with male viewers, that feature guys in the garage, making things go fast and look cool.
“Street Customs,” expected to premiere this fall, features Ryan Friedlinghaus and the gang from his automotive remodeling shop, West Coast Customs. TLC promises that “some of the most extraordinary cars ever conceptualized and built on television” will emerge from West Coast Customs’ new state-of-the-art facility in Corona, Calif.
The projects range in scope from customizing modern-style street rods to chopping up $100,000 luxury vehicles. These creations have an impressive client list, including sports icons, members of the Hollywood elite and famous car aficionados.
“‘Street Customs’ is a highly anticipated series for TLC and will complement our strong lineup of automotive and motorcycle enthusiast programming like ‘American Chopper,’ ‘American Hot Rod’ and ‘Wrecks to Riches,’” said Christian Drobnyk, senior VP of programming for TLC. “These Turbo on TLC series explore the drama and artistry of the build process, and we are excited to have the West Coast Customs team join TLC.”
Tomorrow, TLC is adding “Hard Shine” to the Turbo lineup. The show follows five trainees trying to earn full-time gigs at Jimmy Shines’ SO-CAL Speed Shop.
Turbo has become the multiplatform, multimedia destination for Discovery Networks’ best motor content, from choppers to supersonic jets and everything in between. Turbo offers content on air, online, on demand and on the go.
Turbo programming blocks air on Thursday nights on TLC and Tuesday nights on Discovery HD Theater.
Turbo’s 24-hour broadband channel, turbo.com, features cars, bikes, hot rods, planes and boats, as well as events, behind-the-scenes footage and in-depth insights into the passionate personalities that build the machines. Turbo on Demand offers Discovery’s popular auto-engineering series, as well as military programming and original short-form content, while Discovery Mobile’s Turbo block provides enthusiasts with an adrenaline boost on the go.
“Street Customs” is executive produced by Craig Piligian and his Pilgrim Films & Television, with Mr. Friedlinghaus as an executive producer. For TLC, Mark Poertner is executive producer.
