Key U.S. production team members for the pending BBC America 7 p.m. weeknightly newscast were named Tuesday by executive producer Rome Hartman.
“We’ve assembled an immensely talented team, bringing a wealth of experience, contacts and editorial savvy. Their skills, combined with the BBC’s unrivaled international coverage, promise to be an exciting mix,” Mr. Hartman said in announcing the hires for the newscast that’s set to launch in the fall. “We look forward to bringing the U.S. a fresh perspective which is smart, savvy and sophisticated.”
Joining Mr. Hartman and his Washington, D.C.-based senior broadcast producer Claudia Milne and London-based senior broadcast producer Nicky Goldberg, will be:

  • Iva Zoric, a 10-year veteran of “Charlie Rose,” as senior producer.
  • Sarah Robbins, a BBC veteran returning the States as senior producer for planning.
  • Bob Sharpe, another BBC veteran, moving to D.C. as lead director.
  • Brian Gottlieb, who spent more than a decade with “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer,” and Kathryn Farrell, a former CNN producer coming from Channel One Network’s daily newscast for students, as producers.
  • Meghan Gourley, a C-SPAN veteran who most recently was White House independent pool coordinator, as associate producer.
  • Marc Adams, a CBS Radio News alumnus, as broadcast associate producer.

    1. It’s great to hear that BBC America will have a nightly newscast. I hope this serves as a good alternative to the trash that they call news on the 24-hour cable nets.

    2. How will this be different from the news broadcast that we are currently seeing at 7pm on BBC America?

    3. I disagree with Peter Truth in that he uses the word ‘trash’ …. News is always delivered with different pov’s so that we need to look and listen to them all to form a position on any topic. I am a senior who is growing very tired of the naivete of so many bloggers. Come on, I say, grow up and learn…..
