Joel Cheatwood has been promoted from VP to senior VP of development for Fox News.
“Joel has already made a tremendous contribution to Fox News, and I’m confident he will continue to be a valuable asset to the organization,” Roger Ailes, chairman and CEO of Fox News and chairman of Fox Television Stations, said in Tuesday’s announcement.
Mr. Cheatwood joined Fox News earlier this year, in time to have input in the development process for the just-launched Fox Business Network.
He had spent three years as executive director of program and talent development at CNN, where the programs he helped launch include those starring Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace on CNN Headline News.
His earlier stops included the CBS Television Stations, where he was news executive VP for the group; CBS-owned KYW-TV in Philadelphia, as station manager; NBC-owned WMAQ-TV in Chicago, as VP of news and promotion; and Sunbeam Television, where he oversaw news and promotion for NBC-affiliated WHDH-TV in Boston and Fox-affiliated WSVN-TV in Miami.
