HGTV Renovates Saturday Morning Lineup

Oct 3, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Saturday is a day for tackling home repair projects, and HGTV is adding new series to its “building block” of weekend morning programming.
Two new shows, “Rip + Renew” and “Hammer Heads,” are set to premiere Oct. 6.
In “Rip + Renew,” viewers tag along for a complete architectural overhaul of a home. The show is hosted by builder James Lunday and interior designer Michelle Carano, who show do-it-yourselfers how to convert wasted space into additional square footage, add architectural detail and other endeavors that are both decorative and add to a home’s value.
Step-by-step instruction for projects on the show will be available on the HGTV Web site, along with an Aussie-to-English glossary of architectural terms from Mr. Lunday, who was born Down Under.
“Hammer Heads” is designed to help homeowners with those unfinished projects that turned out to be too complex or time-consuming. On the show, builder Steve Hanneman and his team of carpenters, Carmen de la Paz and Marcus Hunt, come to the aid of homeowners in need of professional construction and design advice.
On-screen graphics provide project goals, instructions and building tips to help viewers tackle their own unfinished projects.
“‘Rip + Renew’ and ‘Hammer Heads’ are the perfect additions to a Saturday morning lineup that already features talented building and renovation experts such as Steve Watson of ‘Don’t Sweat It’ and Eric Stromer of ‘Over Your Head,’” said Michael Dingley, senior VP for programming and content strategy at HGTV. “These series will inspire viewers who want to tackle property improvement projects on their own and need easy and innovative ideas to help them enhance the beauty, livability and value of their homes.”
Beginning Oct. 6, HGTV’s new Saturday morning “Building Block” will consist of:

  • 9 a.m.: “Ground Breakers” with Justin Cave
  • 9:30 a.m.: “Rip + Renew” with James Lunday
  • 10 a.m.: “Don’t Sweat It” with Steve Watson
  • 10:30 a.m.: “Hammer Heads” with Steve Hanneman
  • 11 a.m.: “Over Your Head” with Eric Stromer
  • 11:30 a.m.: “Carter Can” with Carter Oosterhouse
