McCain Campaign Won’t Stop Using Fox Footage in Ad

Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign is flatly rejecting Fox News Channel’s request that it cease using in a campaign ad video of comments he made during the channel’s GOP debate Oct. 20.
The 30-second ad includes 18 seconds of the Arizona senator lambasting Sen. Hillary Clinton for offering legislation to create a museum to commemorate the 1969 Woodstock concert. It began airing last night in New Hampshire markets including during the World Series pre-game yesterday on a Boston station.
During the debate Sen. McCain, who was a prisoner of war for 5 ½ years during the Vietnam War, noted Sen. Clinton had sought $1 million for the museum.
“Now my friends, I wasn’t there. I’m sure it was a cultural and pharmaceutical event. …
“I was … I was tied up at the time,” he said to applause.
A Fox spokeswoman said the request to the campaign reiterated company policy about advertising use of the channel’s content.
“We don’t allow any campaign to use footage of any kind in a political ad,” she said.

  1. The Vietnam war was another appalling American war of aggression, like Iraq, in which hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives. And “the most powerful country in the world WAS DEFEATED!”
Both senator McCain and the world would have been better off if he had been at Woodstock, rather than out trying to KILL!

  2. Every time I hear McCain talk about how we should escalate the Iraq war I think, “But he was in isolation for years during Viet Nam and didn’t know anything about what was really going on, either there or here.” People, at home, saved his life, just as we must save lives by getting out of Iraq and preventing a war with Iran.
