Promax/BDA Appoints Block-Verk President

Promax/BDA tapped Jonathan Block-Verk as the new president of the marketing and design nonprofit association, appointing a successor to Jim Chabin.
Mr. Block-Verk previously served as VP/group publisher and executive producer of events for the commercial production industry’s Boards Magazine. In his new role, Mr. Block-Verk will be charged with management of the association, and will work with the Promax/BDA board on long-term growth strategies.
“Jonathan’s extensive multiplatform background will be a tremendous benefit to the Promax/BDA organization as we look to offer our membership more opportunities for interactive and peer-to-peer engagement,” said Promax/BDA Chairman Michael Benson, who also serves as ABC Entertainment’s executive vice president of marketing. “This, coupled with his wealth of longstanding relationships and hands-on experience in event production, advertising and marketing, confirms that our extensive search process ultimately led us to the ideal candidate.”
Mr. Block-Verk fills the void left by Mr. Chabin, the longtime Promax/BDA president and CEO who departed earlier this year. Mr. Chabin finalized an out from his Promax/BDA contract, ending a 4 1/2-year run atop the organization in June. He had been consigned to administrative leave after disagreements with the body’s board.
