Shopping was the talk of the Internet on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving that marks the beginning of the Christmas gift-buying season. According to Nielsen Online, traffic to Internet shopping sites grew 10%, registering 21.2 million unique visitors. Consumers discussed what to buy and where, and speculated about how crowded stores would be. A big online topic was the deals being offered by retailers to get shoppers in the door as soon as possible.
