Pioneer Tests Online Download Service SyncTV

Nov 20, 2007  •  Post A Comment

The online TV download market got even more crowded Monday with the introduction of Pioneer’s SyncTV.
The service, in private beta at www.synctv.com, is designed to provide “home-theater-quality TV shows” on an unlimited download basis, the company said.
The service works on Windows PCs and Macs and is slated to run on TVs and portable media players down the road.
The service will include channels of content, including some from traditional TV networks. Showtime is one of the first partners for the service.
Sync TV enters a marketplace crowded with competitors ranging from iTunes to Hulu to Amazon.
If viewers subscribe to a Sync TV channel, they can download any show on that channel. Users will pay a small monthly fee for each channel.
Individuals can sign up for the private beta on the site.
