It was another funny year, at least as far as Comedy Central is concerned.
The network plans to air its annual “Last Laugh” special live Dec. 2 from the Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles. Comedian Lewis Black hosts the show, which will take irreverent aim at newsmakers ranging from Idaho Sen. Larry Craig to Paris Hilton.
Dave Attell and D.L. Hughley also will take turns ripping up the headlines of the year.
But this being 2007, the hourlong special will live on into 2008. “Comedy Central’s Last Laugh ’07 Starring Lewis Black” will be streamed online at ComedyCentral.com for a week starting Dec. 3.
The site will include extra online features, including a poll, exclusive video and a game. The game, “Last Laugh ’07: Pop Torture” challenges the user to complete such tasks as shaving Britney Spears’ head and slamming a jail cell door on Ms. Hilton.
The entire special also will be available free on demand from Dec. 10 through Jan. 10 from cable operators representing about 26.7 million on-demand homes, including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, DirecTV and Verizon’s FiOS.
Joel Gallen from Tenth Planet Productions serves as executive producer of “Last Laugh.” Elizabeth Porter, Comedy Central’s senior vice president of specials and talent, is the executive in charge of production.
