Music and Web Video: Daisy Whitney Reports

Feb 20, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Music videos make up a large percentage of the most popular viral videos. YouTube’s own roster of the most-viewed videos of all time is a “who’s who” of contemporary pop and rock artists, including Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance and Timbaland. In her latest New Media Minute, TelevisionWeek writer Daisy Whitney looks at some of the ways musicians are taking to Web video to get noticed.
Daisy looks at sites dedicated to featuring the new faces of music, such as Live@FYI and DeepRockDrive. She also talks to up-and-coming singer Alexa Wilkinson, who video blogs while on the road. See what Alexa has to say about her experience and check out a clip of her at the mic here.
Because of the often spontaneous nature of Web video usage, shorter (three-minute) clips find huge success. Rising musical artists have definitely noticed and begun using video sites as the latest stage to break out and rock on.
