HD Production Too Costly for Many Reality Shows, Producers Say
With high-definition cameras costing as much as $120,000 each, shooting in high definition remains too expensive for many reality shows, USA Today reports, citing show producers including Jonathan Littman of “The Amazing Race” and Mark Burnett of “Survivor.” Out of 25 or so prime-time reality shows, only “American Idol,” “American Gladiators” and “Dancing With the Stars” are recorded in HD, the newspaper says.
Associations Start Web Site to Aid in Digital Transition
The Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Broadcasters started a Web site to help identify the antennas that customers without satellite or cable TV will need to maintain programming after broadcasts switch to digital from analog next February. AntennaWeb.org also will help customers to find the necessary equipment needed to receive free over-the-air high-definition programming for HD television sets, which will account for more than three-quarters of U.S. TV shipments this year, the groups said.
National Lampoon Will Air HD Videos on Dailymotion Site
National Lampoon said this week it will make its videos available in high definition on video Web site Dailymotion.com. National Lampoon will license its content to Dailymotion’s “Funny Channel,” the company said Feb. 19.
Mojo HD’s Chef Boulud Returns ‘After Hours’
Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud will feature New Orleans and Miami restaurants in his third season of “After Hours With Daniel,” which starts on the Mojo network March 16. The New Orleans segments will include Commander’s Palace and Stella!, while Ortanique on the Mile and Michy’s will be among the Miami eateries highlighted by Mr. Boulud, who made his name in New York with restaurants such as Daniel and Café Boulud.

  1. I strongly reccomend against using AntennaWeb, a while back they redid their algorithm for determining reception and are much too conservative now. For example, they claim all I could get is my local NBC and CBS affiliate and I need a large directional antenna to get them, and don’t even predict I can get the other stations in my market, yet I get all of my locals with a cheap pair of rabbit ears from the dollar store with a solid signal between 85 – 95%. And since they don’t even list the other digitals for me, their street level map is useless. I reccomend that people use TVFool.com instead as their predictions are much more accurate.

  2. Kyl416:
We understand that they may not be the exact case for everyone (antennaweb). However, in my case, they are too loose with their predictions of DTV reception. The angle that I’m at is a bad angle and I only get 2 stations in clearly. I belive that antennaweb may be a worse case scenerio for most of the public. But that’s not an excuse to SPAM the readers with another website name. That was just uncalled for. Thanks for the advert!
