Golf Hits the Road

For some people, a round of golf is an adventure. In its new show, Golf Channel is creating an adventure for five teams of players.
“Highway 18,” scheduled to premiere July 22, sends five two-man teams off on a golf road rally through the state of Florida.
In each episode, contestants will stop along the way to have their golf skills challenged. It could be at an out-of-the-way driving range or putting at a well-known tourist attraction.
They’ll also face a “Clubhouse Challenge” at a golf course that could range from a famous championship venue to a municipal facility.
“‘Highway 18’ will be so much more than 18 holes of golf,” said Golf Channel executive producer Jay Kossoff. “The paces we’ll put the contestants through and the emotional and physical journeys they will experience will captivate viewers.”
The show will be produced in early April. The network came up with the idea for the show, which will be produced by Winnercomm, a production company based in Oklahoma.
