Lifetime Networks said it launched Lifetime Television HD and signed deals with AT&T and Verizon to carry the new service.
Lifetime launched Lifetime Movie Network in HD last year.
Lori Conkling, executive VP for distribution at Lifetime said in a release that the network’s research shows that 85 percent of women 18- to 54-years old were interested in watching movies in high definition.
“In launching Lifetime Television HD, together with Lifetime Movie Network HD, we are giving women what they want,” Ms. Conkling said. “With these agreements, we’re delighted that AT&T and Verizon will carry all of our networks.”
“We know it’s important to offer our U-verse customers a wide variety of HD content that speaks to their interests, and Lifetime’s quality programming will reach an important audience,” said Dan York, head of programming and content for AT&T’s U-verse service.
Terry Denson, VP of content and programming for Verizon’s FiOS TV service, added that “the Lifetime Television HD channel will be a great addition to our expanding HD channel lineup.”
