Seth MacFarlane is on deck to deliver the 2008 Promax/BDA Conference keynote address, according to Promax/BDA President Jonathan Block-Verk. The conference will run June 17-19 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
“Seth is a remarkable talent and a catalyst for change within the television industry,” said Mr. Block-Verk. “Through his characters and his own experience, he has a voice that is welcome, a point of view that is relevant and an approach that connects with our audience both as professionals and fans. He continually forces us to question the status quo and provide alternatives to everyday dreck.
“In the nearly 10 years he’s been on air, he has dedicated himself to art, creativity and storytelling—precisely the elements that move, motivate and empower the Promax/BDA constituency,” he added.
Mr. MacFarlane created the billion-dollar Fox animated franchise “Family Guy” as well as “American Dad,” earning him the distinction of being the youngest executive producer in television history at the time.
He now joins a slate of speakers for Promax that include Rev. Jesse Jackson, futurist Nicholas Negroponte, Hustler TV president Michael Klein and James Lipton, executive producer, writer and host of “Inside the Actors’ Studio.”
