Mark Burnett Productions has partnered with event production company AEG to create original content for multiplatform distribution.
The multiyear deal gives AEG clearance to produce live entertainment based on MBP’s reality television and game show properties, which include “Survivor,” “The Apprentice” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” It also grants MBP the rights to produce reality and nonscripted programming based on AEG events.
The agreement comes on the heels of two live events based on the MBP boxing reality show “The Contender” that were promoted and hosted by AEG at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, one of AEG’s many sports and entertainment arenas.
“We have always believed that the next logical stage of development for many of our most popular television reality programs would be to live-action events,” said Mark Burnett, president of MBP. “AEG is the perfect choice for us to work with to develop live shows and tours for some of our popular shows that the public is looking forward to interacting with in person.”
The organizations plan to release a programming roster in the upcoming weeks.
