‘McLaughlin’ Switches Stations in New York, D.C.

Sunday morning programming staple “The McLaughlin Group” will switch network affiliations in Washington, D.C., and New York, leaving local NBC outlets for CBS-related stations.
“McLaughlin” will join Gannett’s CBS affiliate WUSA-TV in Washington and CBS’ owned-and-operated WCBS-TV in New York.
“The opportunity presented by WUSA was just too good to turn down,” host and executive producer John McLaughlin said. “We are proud and excited to be the centerpiece of their Sunday morning programming.”
Mr. McLaughlin’s production company, Oliver Studios, also will move production to WUSA’s studios.
The switch comes after “McLaughlin’s” more than 20 years with NBC affiliates WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., and WNBC-TV in New York.
The move will not affect the 315 PBS affiliates that carry the show in the rest of the country.
“‘The McLaughlin Group’ adds zest and depth to our growing public affairs lineup on Sundays,” WUSA-TV General Manager Allan Horlick said. “[Mr. McLaughlin] and his mix-it-up panel of Washington insiders can always be relied on for wry and insightful observations.”
“McLaughlin” features political panel discussions on major issues and regularly includes notable figures like Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift, Monica Crowley, Clarence Page and Mort Zuckerman.
The change will take place next month, with “McLaughlin” debuting on Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C. and May 4 at 11 a.m. in New York.

  1. When is O’Donnell coming back, they could have used him today in their discussion about Mormon polygamists in Texas

  2. I have been watching The McLaughlin Group for many years. It’s the best of the Sunday A.M. programs. It should be expanded to 1 hour. Keep up the good work.

  3. Wonderfully timely and informative show. In todays show, March 22nd, 2009, McLaughlin raised the question on AIG’s bailout of European banks with American taxpayers money and spoke the word “cabal.” Did all of these international players know each other? It was the first time I heard the word mentioned although it is widely believed this is exactly what happened.
Many experienced seniors have expressed this view, along with many internet savy young people, but McLaughlin is the first person I have every heard give voice to this theory.
The question was also raised about a deflection of taxpayers” attention to the AIG bonuses, in lieu of the European banks payout.
It seem to me that would be conquerors no longer have to ride in with their armies. Now it is done on paper.
I wish John McLaughlin and his panel were on evening primetime.
