CW Turns to Tyra for Fall

The CW is banking on Tyra big-time this fall, scheduling a second series from “America’s Next Top Model” star/executive producer Tyra Banks.
As it prepares to unveil its new lineup to advertisers Tuesday, there’s word that the network has decided on a fall debut for “Stylista,” the previously untitled weekly reality competition from Ms. Banks’ Bankable Productions, Ken Mok’s 10 by 10 Entertainment, Warner Horizon Television and “Project Runway” producers Eli Holzman, Desiree Gruber and Jane Cha. It seems likely The CW will pair the new show with “Top Model.”
Meanwhile, The CW also has settled on at least two scripted series to air next season. The much-hyped “Beverly Hills, 90210” spinoff, starring original Zip code alum Jennie Garth, has been officially ordered to series. The network is considering moving forward with “How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls,” a sudsy one-hour drama.
In addition, half-hour comedy “The Game” has, not surprisingly, been officially renewed for another season.
It’s believed The CW will unveil plans for some original summer programming or, at the very least, some early premiere dates for existing shows. There’s been plenty of chatter about the idea of summer-themed episodes of “Gossip Girl” airing on The CW in July or August, but as of Sunday, CW executives were labeling such talk as “speculation.”
As for “Stylista,” the series is described as the reality TV version of “The Devil Wears Prada.” It will feature 11 fashion-loving contestants working as assistants to Elle magazine fashion news director Anne Slowey. A differerent assistant will be eliminated each week, with the winning contestant receiving a paid editorial position at Elle, a lease on a Manhattan apartment and, of course, a clothing allowance.
The CW gave a thumbs up to “Sylista” last winter, ordering eight episodes and aiming it for a spring or summer launch. Pleased by how well early episodes turned out, executives at the network ultimately decided to save it for the network’s fall lineup, a person familiar with The CW’s thinking said.

  1. STYLISTA was JUST filmed this summer..I dunno where ya’ll gettin ur info

  2. By far Tyra’s best. The judges are fair without being preachy. they seem genuine and as if they are interested in the contestants progress. Their feedback is helpful and the atmosphere is pleasant unlike Top Model.
