Beth Colleton has been named vice president of NBC Universal’s Green Is Universal initiative, effective June 9.
Her duties will entail overseeing the day-to-day management of the initiative, including coordinating green programming, activities within all divisions and community outreach initiatives. She will work strategically with the sales, marketing, research and communications divisions.
Ms. Colleton, who will report to Lauren Zalaznick, president of women and lifestyle entertainment networks for NBC Universal, most recently spent 15 years as head of corporate social responsibility for the National Football League.
“Beth’s background in social responsibility and her expertise in launching initiatives across a wide array of businesses within a large organization make her an ideal fit for ‘Green Is Universal,’” Ms. Zalaznick said in a statement.
The Green Is Universal initiative seeks to reduce NBCU’s greenhouse gas emissions by implementing energy-efficient practices within the company, in addition to coordinating green programming for “Green Week 2” in November and “Earth Week 2” in April 2009.
