CBS won Monday night with its regular lineup in repeats, plus a sneak peek of TBS’ comedy “The Bill Engvall Show.”
“Engvall” kicked off the night for CBS by coming within a half-million total viewers of Fox’s “Bones” (6.4 million viewers for the TBS comedy vs. 6.9 million for “Bones”) and tying “Bones” in the key demo with a 1.9 rating in viewers 18-49, according to preliminary national data from Nielsen Media Research.
For the night, CBS averaged 8.1 million total viewers and a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demo to Fox’s 7.8 million viewers and 2.4 in the demo.
NBC got a boost from the two-hour broadcast premiere of “Nashville Star,” which averaged 6.6 million vewers and a 2.2 rating in the demo. That was the network’s biggest audience in the time slot outside the regular season and a 10% improvement in the demo for the time period over last summer, when NBC averaged a 2.0.
Once again, ABC’s “The Mole” squandered its lead-in from two hours of “The Bachelorette” (6.4 million viewers and a 2.3 in the demo), dropping to slightly less than 4 million viewers and a 1.6 in the demo. For the night, ABC averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 2.0 in the demo.
The CW averaged 965,000 total viewers for the night, a 0.4 in the 18-49 demo and a 0.5 in the 18-34 female demo the network targets.
