NBC Universal promoted Vivi Zigler to president of NBC Universal digital entertainment, a nod to her work in building NBC.com into a hub for consumers to watch the networks’ shows online.
Previously executive VP of digital entertainment, Ms. Zigler will have a broader role and input into all of the NBC Universal entertainment Web sites. She will continue to oversee the NBC Universal Digital Studio, NBC.com and NBC Universal Digital Entertainment.
“She has proven herself to be a force in the digital industry, and we’re thrilled she’s in this role,” said Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, in a statement.
Ms. Zigler became executive VP in August 2006 and led the revamp of NBC.com from a promotional site into an ad-supported viewing venue for NBC shows. NBC.com drew 14.2 million unique visitors in May, according to NBC.
At a Pricewaterhouse Coopers conference last week, NBC said it expected to generate “tens of millions” of dollars in operating profit from NBC.com next year.
