‘SNL’ to Repeat Premiere Episode, Hosted by Carlin

To honor the late George Carlin, “Saturday Night Live” will air its 1975 series premiere on Saturday. Mr. Carlin hosted the first episode of the long-running live comedy show.
The June 28 broadcast will feature the 33-year-old episode in its entirety. Mr. Carlin performed three monologues on the program, and helped introduce “Not Ready for Primetime Players” Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner.
“You never forget the people who were there at the beginning,” Lorne Michaels, “SNL” creator and executive producer, said in a statement released Tuesday by NBC. “George Carlin helped give ‘Saturday Night Live’ its start as our first host. He was gracious, fearless and, most important of all, funny.”
Mr. Carlin died of heart failure on June 22 in Santa Monica, Calif.

This is a wonderful idea; and folks, of my generation in particular who will be seeing it again, will be glad for this chance to relive one of our many good memories of Carlin.
