ABC Gains 2 Digital Affiliates in West Virginia

Jul 9, 2008  •  Post A Comment

ABC will gain two new affiliates Aug. 1 when West Virginia Media adds the network’s full lineup plus local news on the digital spectrums of its NBC-affiliated WBOY-TV in Clarksburg-Weston and CBS-affiliated WTRF-TV in Wheeling-Steubenville.
Residents in both markets currently see ABC via out-of-market broadcasts.
“Our new affiliations with the ABC Television Network in Clarksburg-Weston and Wheeling-Steubenville will expand the programming choice for our viewers,” Bray Cary, president and CEO of West Virginia Media Holdings, said in the announcement Wednesday. “This expansion of service with the Aug. 1 launch of WBOY-TV/D2 and WTRF-TV/D3 also creates important new advertising opportunities for our local station clients.”
West Virginia Media has TV stations in most of the state’s TV markets.
“Given the central role that localism plays in ABC’s far-reaching partnership with television stations nationwide, we’re pleased to utilize the benefits of the digital spectrum in order to broadcast our ABC news, entertainment and sports programming directly into the Clarksburg-Weston and Wheeling-Steubenville markets,” John Rouse, ABC’s senior VP for affiliate relations, said.

  1. I receive some channels from Direct TV, unfortunately I live in an area where it is geographically impossible to receive local channels via, DTV. I have tried using an antena but that was not successful either. DTV requested a waiver for me to receive local channels via East/West network affiliates. The request was denied by my local channels. I am requesting a waiver. I miss all local news, sports events and advertisements, so I do not always know what is happening for other than CNN. I’m a captive of the television net works. I have purchased every program available through DTV, $101.00 per mo.Is there anything I can do to get local channels? HELP!!

  9. What a release to notice a post that might be present ultimately in reality meaning reading! I’ve been looking for all-around in relation to this topic but men and women now put rubbish posts, or brief meaningless article. I have looked at a couple vids on youtube but it’s now the equivalent as reading a good post.
