While some prominent Twitter users are testing out new services, the still-dominant micro-blogging site has grown six-fold over last year despite technical problems, according to online audience measurement service Hitwise.
Despite regular outages, Twitter’s market share of visits among micro-blogging sites rose 500% for the week ending July 5 compared to the same week a year ago.
Hitwise also said Twitter’s traffic last week was 12 times higher than competitor Plurk and 24 times higher than FriendFeed.
Twitter is used by many prominent Web video stars and bloggers such as Leo Laporte, Kevin Rose and Michael Arrington.
