Olympics Takes Sports Viewership Crown

The Beijing Summer Olympics reached for the viewership gold Saturday night, as the 2008 Games became the most watched event in television history.
Through 16 days, the Beijing Games brought in 211 million viewers, outpacing the previous No. 1, the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games, by 2 million with one day to go, according to Nielsen research.
The 16-day average for prime-time Olympic viewership is 27.7 million, 11% ahead of the 2004 Athens Games.
