Orange County’s PBS station KOCE-TV is teaming up with notable popular culture and destination historian Charles Phoenix for a new weekly series, “Southern CaliforniaLand,” covering various locations of interest throughout the region.
The half-hour show will be produced and hosted by Mr. Phoenix, who will take viewers on explorations highlighting the “local life and style” from Ventura County to the Mexico border.
KOCE plans to tape 18 episodes of “CaliforniaLand,” which is still in the early stages of production.
The series will air exclusively on KOCE-TV, KOCE-HD and the OC Channel, in addition to streaming online at www.koce.org.
Mr. Phoenix has put together several books on mid-20th-century culture and lifestyle. He also is known for his humorous slide shows and bus tours. He has served as a correspondent for “The Martha Stewart Show” and National Public Radio’s “Day to Day.”
Orange County’s KOCE-TV is the sixth most-watched PBS affiliate in the country, serving the nation’s fifth-largest county (based on population).
